Contract Manager receives award for collecting most for BHF

Having raised a total of £1050 between his two contracts at Kings Heath, Northampton and Heathrow Express, London, Ian Johnson was the manager contributing the most to the corporate charity event ‘Red for Heart’ on 25th February 2010.

To avoid interference with the railway signal colours the day was modified to ‘wear pink-day’ at both sites. A lot of events were organised to drive donations into the charity with great contributions of staff and support from the client, Siemens.

On 25th March Ian was awarded with a certificate from British Heart Foundation thanking him for his efforts and a prize from the Company.

Pictured below is Ian Johnson being handed his prize, an Ipod Touch engraved ‘BHF Best Contract 2010 Presented to Ian Johnson’, by Operations Manager Ivan Shiels. Pictures from the event are available in the archive.

ISS Kings Heath loves Fresh Clean!

Our Train Presentation team first tried Freshclean in August 2009. Since then the product has been implemented for use in of several areas on trains as well as train depots. With this product delivering remarkable results in floor buffing machines and carpet skimmers there seems to be no limit to the usefulness of Freshclean leaving every surface spotless. However, from experience we know that it does not matter how clean an area is if it is not reflected by its odour. Any bad smells lingering will always give the impression of the area being unclean. Hence we are very satisfied with Freshclean providing a long lasting fresh odour to improve the perception of the cleanliness of i.e. train toilets and motivate customers to keep them that way.

Our employees have each received training by a Freshclean representative and been granted certificates of competence in the use of the product. This ensures a safe, efficient work practice which reduces unnecessary waste. For this reason Freshclean is also more cost-effective and environmentally friendly than other products.

The stylish looking powder tubs are light and practical for storage and with scoops and user guides supplied Freshclean is easy and pleasant to use. RJN always provides excellent and personal service, altogether a fresh approach to the cleaning industry!

Pink Madness
Raised £700 for British Heart Foundation at ISS Kings Heath

Red is the colour of the heart but unfortunately also the colour of an important signal in the railway world. As a result ISS Transport at Kings Heath Northampton transformed the corporate sponsor British Heart Foundation’s wear red-day into wear pink-day and accordingly blue ISS uniforms were replaced with pink shirts, leg warmers and wigs!

At wear pink-day on 25th February and during BHF’s National Heart Month the ISS team at Siemens Train Care Facility, Kings Heath came up with various creative ideas to drive a lot of donations into the charity. The cause is of particular significance for the staff due to a recent bereavement of a co-worker in January. Like this experience illustrates, most people are somehow affected by heart disease in their circle of friends or family.

Siemens and ISS at Kings Heath work in a close relationship and Siemens Fleet Manager Mick Hill has given his full support to make this event possible and successful.

ISS Kings Heath also received a lot of support by their number one chemical supplier, Freshclean who has made a generous donation to support the good cause.

The ISS cleaning staff that usually look after the London Midland fleets

extended their service to depot colleagues’ vehicles offering a first class hand car wash and valeting.

Stakes were made in a Winter Olympics sweepstake, cakes and cookies, fry-ups and Indian specialities were sold to fill up the donation jar as well as empty stomachs. Some people went to more radical measures to collect money with sponsorships for very experimental haircuts and cross-dressing!

Thanks to these amazing efforts by the staff team, sponsors and the corporation and very generous donations by Siemens managers and colleagues, ISS at Kings Heath has managed to raise a whopping £700 for the British Heart Foundation.

A huge thanks to everybody who was involved or helped support this event.

Pink Express
ISS at Heathrow Express raise £350 for British Heart Foundation

ISS Transport at Siemens Heathrow Express, London also took a pink approach to the corporate sponsor’s Wear Red-Day on Thursday 25th February to avoid interference with railway signal colours.

The ISS team managed to raise an amazing £350 by replacing the usual soap water in their buckets with busy travellers’ spare pennies at Paddington Station. For donations staff also offered an exclusive car wash and valeting service to their colleagues at Siemens’ depot in Acton.

ISS and Siemens collaborate closely at Heathrow Express Depot where Siemens managers and colleagues contributed to make this day possible and successful.

The colourful event encouraged everybody to help support a charity that relates to so many people’s life and at the same time have a laugh with their co-workers doing something fun and different, i.e. cross dressing involving pink knickers.

The day was organised by acting Productions Manager Ade Jiboye in conjunction with Contract Manager Ian Johnson. They were kindly supported by George Staines, Siemens Fleet Manager and Chris Gara, Siemens Productions Manager here seen with a pink legged Ade.

Thanks to everyone who was involved in this event and helped support the British Heart Foundation.
